The world's wise agree: the means to a good life rest on five things.

Peace of mind, safety, health, sufficient means, and a good-natured, well-behaved companion.

The writer's pen paints three things as ugly, when they come from three kinds of people.

Harshness in a mighty king, greed in a wise man, and stinginess in the wealthy.

Strive for justice — like the dawn, its light travels a thousand leagues.

Do not let fasting darken your temper — patience and forbearance surpass all else.
